The worlds of Braythe
The universe of Braythe is filled with countless different worlds, and as I keep on writing, I’ll explore more and more of them. Each world has a champion or paragon. Such a person is chosen by the mysterious beings only known as the Powers of Braythe. The champion is granted temporary cosmic powers to forge a new world from the remains of the old, which then gets tied to massive world-chains and transported into the dimension of Braythe.
Ashandri
Ashandri is what remains of the old world of Virthys, which was torn apart by a dragon god gone mad. The champion of this world is the legendary hero Marisha Veilbreaker. Despite her power, she has no desire to rule the world, only to protect it. Ashandri is a patchwork island still recovering from the aftermath of a massive war, the apocalypse (which happened just a few years ago) and invaders from the neighboring world Va’Laeth.
The Arkan Chronicles begin in the land of Delvaroth, in the city of Blackbed. The journey of our heroes will lead them to Bridgepoint, and soon into other regions of Ashandri.
Va’Laeth
The world of Va’Laeth is ruled by the hellbrood Cirandir, the champion of his world. He has made a pact with nightmarish creatures, known as the Perishing, to help them destroy the worlds of other champions. When Ashandri appeared, he quickly sent his armies over the world-chain into the land of Delvaroth.
While Cirandir managed to conquer about half of the world, he was eventually driven back and forced to retreat. But a few inhabitants of Va’Laeth remained in Ashandri – some as spies and saboteurs, others as refugees.
Morothai
Connected to Ashandri via the chain under the Mesmerizing Mountains, Morothai is a dying world. Its champion has gone missing, and the land is slowly dissolving. Terrifying creatures known as Void Wraiths prey on those who survive here.
More worlds and other places
Over time, I will add more worlds to Braythe. The purple void also hides more than postapocalyptic worlds: There are entire voidfaring civilizations living on arcane ships, giant beasts floating through the thick clouds that carry cities and nations on their backs, and much, much more…
